Book Review: How to Write Coursework & Exam Essays

Stressed out by essays that are due and exams approaching?

You might want to read the book How to Write Coursework & Exam Essays: an accessible guide to developing the skills needed to excel in written work and exams (PE1471.H45 2010), which UC Library has recently added to the collection.

This long running (6th edition) and popular work is written by Brendan Hennessy, a teacher of English, literature, journalism and communication skills to students of all ages, in the UK and overseas. The book looks at every step of the essay writing process from choosing and researching your topic through to editing and rewriting, including hints on how to pass exam essays. Advice is given on such issues as how to ensure your essay make sense, adding conviction to your work, and writing introductions and conclusions.

Whether you are having some doubts about your work and would like some guidance, or want to improve some aspects of what you have already accomplished, or simply want go that one step further, this title is well worth reading.
